Law Enforcement Candidate Psychological Evaluations
Law enforcement agencies refer to us to perform psychological evaluations for law enforcement candidates. The following components form the basis of the evaluation as they aid in determining if there are in significant psychological issues (e.g., somatic, cognitive, emotional, thought, or behavioraldysfunction) which could impede the candidate in the successful completion of their law enforcement duties.
- Psycho-Social History (Law Enforcement Focus)\
- Individual Interview
- Holmes-Rahe Life Stress Inventory
- MMPI-2-RF (Law Enforcement Version)
- Beck Depression Inventory
- Burns Anxiety Inventory
Understanding the need of law enforcement agencies for timely results we streamline the process from referral to report by:
- Scheduling the candidate at their earliest convenience.
- Emailing them the Psycho-Social History, Holmes-Rahe Life Stress Inventory, Beck Depression Inventory & Beck Depression Inventory. All are to be completed and returned when they come in.
- Upon their visit to SPC:
- The MMPI is administered on-line.
- During the MMPI administration, the information they turned in is scored and reviewed.
- Upon completion of the MMPI the results are immediately accessed and reviewed.
- All results tend to direct the focus of the individual interview.
- Typically, all information is gathered in one session. However, if time constraints of either party occur or if unforeseen concerns arise, then another session will be scheduled as soon as possible.
- Based on all information gathered a report is generated which thoroughly explains the results and recommendation is made concerning any psychological problems which may or may not impede their duties as a law enforcement officer.
Our goal is to complete the process from initial session to the final report in the hands of the law enforcement agency is one week.
Pre-Bariatric Surgery Psychological Evaluations
Local medical professionals (e.g., doctors & surgeons) & insurance providers refer candidates to us to undergo a pre-surgical psychological evaluation. The following components form the basis of the evaluation as they aid in determining if there are any significant psychological issues (e.g., somatic, cognitive, emotional, thought, or behavioral dysfunction) which could impede the candidate in the successful completion of their law enforcement duties.
- Psycho-Social History (Bariatric Success Focus)
- Individual Interview
- MMPI-2-RF (Pre-Bariatric Surgery Version)
The process from start to finish is as follows:
- Scheduling the candidate at their earliest convenience.
- Emailing them the Psycho-Social History which is to be completed and returned when they come in.
- Upon their visit to SPC:
- The MMPI is administered on-line.
- During the MMPI administration, the information they turned in is reviewed.
- Based on all information gathered a report is generated which thoroughly explains the results and recommendation is made concerning any psychological problems which may or may not impede their success following the surgery.
Our goal is to complete the process from initial session to the final report in the hands of the doctor is one week.
ADHD Screenings
Everyone has times in which they are distractible, impulsive and/or hyperactive. It’s only when the intensity, frequency and duration of these characteristics significantly and habitually impede our life that an ADHD screening is necessary to rule ADHD in or out as he primary factor. The components of an ADHD screening vary according to the age and sex of the individual. At SPC we utilize a variety of sources and people as listed from the components below:
- Psycho-Social History/Anecdotal Information
- Conners-3-Teacher Rating Scales
- Conners-3-Parent Rating Scales
- Conners-3-Self Rating Scales
- Brown ADD Scales-Teacher
- Brown ADD Scales-Parent
- Brown Adult ADD Scales
- ADHD Female Screener
- Report Cards & Teacher Reports (K-12)
When all information is gathered a report is written and shared with all pertinent parties (e.g., parent, child, adult & medical professional).
